David Close (1841) was born at Nunda, New York, the son of John Close (1804) and Rebecca Van Dyke.
David enlisted at age 21 as a private in the 136th Regiment of Infantry Company in the New York Volunteer Infantry on 27th August 1862 and was killed in action on 15th May 1864 at Resaca, Gordon County, Georgia.
