George Cecil Clowes (1889) was born in Great Glenn, Leicestershire, the son of Alfred Clowes (1851) and Ruth Coleman. Enlisted into the South Staffordshire Regiment in the First World War as a Private. Wounded in action, but survived. Awarded the Silver War Badge.
