Odel Close (1738) was born in Greenwich, Connecticut, the son of Joseph Close (1702) and Eunice Hall.
In 1775 he was appointed to the Committee of Inspection and Safety. This was an extension of the Vigilance Committee in preparation for the America Revolutionary War.
In 1776 he was appointed as Lieutenant in Captain Abraham Mead’s Company.
