Henry Nelson Clowes (1911) was born in Derbyshire, England the son of Ernest William Clowes (1869) and Blanche Littleton.

He saw active service in the 2nd Batallion Scots Guards in North West Europe during World War II, achieving the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and was awarded the Distinguished Service Order.

In 1954 he was awarded the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
