Edward Elbridge Close (1839) was born in Scipio, New York, the son of William Close (1793) and Chloe Smith.

He enlisted into Union forces in September 1861 at Scipio, New York. He survived the war, being mustered out in 1864.

Service Record:

  • Enlisted in Company D, New York 75th Infantry Regiment on 26 Nov 1861.
  • Mustered out on 10 Feb 1864.
  • Transferred to Company C, New York 14th Cavalry Regiment on 10 Feb 1864.
  • Mustered out on 06 Dec 1864 at Auburn, NY.
