| We've put together a couple of Calendars based on the books of ... the eccentric ... John "Poet" Close. | |
| John "Poet" Close was born in Kirkby Stephen, Westmorland in 1816. He spent his summers in Windermere where he wrote and sold his books. Anything was fair game for his poetry and literary comments, often landing him in hot water. He was a prolific writer and published his Grand Lake and Christmas books each year for over 20 years. The books were illustrated with original drawings, some of which are reproduced here. Enjoy. | |
