We've been lucky enough to receive a copy of a book
produced By Susan Premru on the life and works of Moses
Bowness. |
|
Moses was a renowned Photographer, Poet, Farmer and
Entrepreneur in the Lake District during the 19th
Century. He knew
John "Poet" Close
well, and photographed him many times during their
association. As a result John published advertisements
for "Bowness's Photographic Rooms" in his many books. In
return Moses bought and sold John's books.
As they were both poets in the same area, you have to
wonder whether there was a reciprocal inspiration! |
|
Sue has produced a marvellous little book based on the
life of Moses, including examples of his poetry. There
are many references to John Close in the appendices,
together with excerpts from his books, and a multitude
of pictures and images from the era. |
|
The book is for sale at various locations in Westmorland
and Cumberland, but we have agreed to also sell it on
our site. We're not going to make any money on this,
it's purely to help Sue. Any orders received will be
passed straight to her, along with the money, for her to
send direct. |
|
So, we're asking you to give her a hand, and at the
same time get another unique insight into the workings
of
John "Poet" Close
and his peers. |
