The monumental inscription reads:

To the memory of Jane Close wife of
William Close Jun. late of Winston stone
mason and daughter of Christopher
and Jane Heslop of Westwick who
died March 20th 1788 aged 29 years

Also of Mary Close their daughter
who died February 18th 1802 aged 19 years

Also of the aforesaid William Close
who died January 19th 1804 aged 44 years
